Industry information: BOE will begin mass production of the Chongqing B12 sixth generation (1500x1850mm) flexible OLED production line in October. This year, BOE plans to double the shipment volume of flexible OLEDs to last year's (36 million units).

According to Korean media Thelec, BOE will begin mass production of the first phase of the Chongqing B12 sixth generation flexible OLED factory in October. The second and third production lines will be put into production in March and October next year, respectively. The scale of each stage of the production line is based on the input of the sixth generation substrate, with a monthly output of 16K each. The total monthly production capacity from Phase 1 to Phase 3 is 48K.

B12 is BOE's third flexible OLED production line, following B7 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province and B11 in Mianyang, the same province. The monthly production capacity of B7 and B11 is 48K, respectively.

After BOE completes all three production lines of Jia Dong B12 in the second half of next year, the production capacity of the sixth generation flexible OLED will reach 144K per month. Exceeding the current monthly production capacity (140K) of Samsung Display (hereinafter referred to as SDC), which ranks first in terms of scale. SDC is producing sixth generation flexible OLED panels at the A3 and A4 factories in Yashan, Zhongqing South Road. The main customers are Samsung Electronics and Apple.

LG Display (hereinafter referred to as LGD) has an Apple specific sixth generation flexible OLED production line in Poju, Gyeonggi Province. In addition to the mass-produced E6-1 and E6-2, the E6-3 has also placed a main equipment order. After the E6-3 earthquake, the production capacity of the LGD sixth generation flexible OLED will reach 45K per month. Equivalent to 30% of BOE.

BOE once stated that 36 million sixth generation flexible OLEDs were shipped last year, with a BP achievement rate of 90%. BOE's target for flexible OLED shipments this year is twice that of last year.

As Chinese panel companies such as BOE increase their investment in sixth generation OLEDs, the market share gap between small and medium-sized OLEDs in South Korea will also narrow. The data shows that in the global AMOLED smart phone panel market in 2020, the shipments of AMOLED panel manufacturers in Chinese Mainland accounted for 16.5%, and it is predicted that they will increase to 18.5% in 2021, continuing to replace the market share of Korean panel manufacturers and continue to replace the market share of Korean panel manufacturers; The South Korean region remains the main force for AMOLED panel shipments, with a market share of 83.5% in 2020, which may decrease to 81.5% in 2021.
